Mechanical men may not have real hearts, but they also can’t break yours. The only thing you have to worry about them breaking is your headboard. But who needs a headboard anyway?
-Hudson Innovations – Making your life better, one machine at a time.
She’s not looking for love. She’s looking for lust.
The headboard breaking kind of lust.
Gemini Prescott has been burned by love too many times. There’s no way she’s going back down that road again. When she learns of mechanical men, she believes she’s found the perfect antidote to her problems. Mechanical men can’t break your heart. Mechanical men can’t cheat on you with your best friend. A mechanical man is exactly what she needs.
But something seems to be wrong with her personal robot. He doesn’t follow orders like he’s supposed to. Instead, he has demands of his own. Demands that leave her begging for more. She would return him to the manufacturer, but there’s this thing he does with his tongue that makes him a keeper.
He’s not looking for love or lust.
He’s looking for a way off this planet.
Zain only has one goal: to return to his home-world. Though most of his brethren are enjoying their new life on Earth, Zain has no desire to follow their lead. He doesn’t want to be a pleasure-robot, a slave to whoever purchases him. He plans to leave Earth behind and he’ll destroy anyone who stands in his way.
Then he meets Gemini.
And everything changes.
She was stunning.
Her face was oval shaped. Her eyes were brown and shaped like a cat’s. He didn’t like cats. Aoki had one. Whenever she called him to her office, the damn thing was seated on the windowsill.
It stared at him like it owned the room and he was invading its space. Yeah, cats weren’t his favorite thing. But Gemini’s cat eyes were his new favorite thing. Her hair was straight and pulled back away from her face.
Her skin appeared soft. She looked… he didn’t know the words to describe how she looked. It was like watching the sun rise or set for the first time. Or looking up at the stars at night, watching them twinkle.
What had Chance called those things? Beautiful, that was what he called them. That was what Gemini was. She was beautiful, like the sunrise. An awkward silence filled the room. He knew he should say something.
He didn’t know what to say. He tried recalling the advice Chance had given him. What had his leader suggested he do when he first met his mistress? Compliment her, that was it. Zain cleared his throat, but the act didn’t stop his voice from coming out harsher than he intended.
“Your face is shaped well,” he growled.
Her frown caused a crease to form in the space between her eyes. Even that was beautiful. He was messing this up. What the hell was wrong with him? He wasn’t Chance. He wasn’t good at giving compliments. Zain cleared his throat again.
“I meant to say, your hand is well.”
“That’s not what you said.”
Zain nodded. He knew that wasn’t what he said. He didn’t want to talk right now. His voice wasn’t working properly. Or did he always sound so harsh? He’d never noticed before, probably because he tried his best to avoid talking. Now was no different.
He didn’t want to have a conversation. He just wanted to stare at her.
“Can I have my hand back?”
She tugged her hand. He didn’t release it. He liked her voice, when she wasn’t screeching. Listening to her talk wasn’t making his head hurt. He had a feeling he could listen to her talk for hours.
He felt her hand move again. He tightened his grip, not enough to hurt her. He simply wasn’t ready to release her. He told himself he was holding her hand because he didn’t want her to hit him again. But he knew it was because he liked the way her skin felt against his.
“My hand please.”
Zain shook his head. His eyes traveled from her face to her throat. She had a nice neck. He’d wondered why males in the videos he watched liked licking and kissing their woman’s neck.
Looking at hers, he could see why. His eyes traveled lower, past her clavicle, down to her breasts. Zain swallowed and licked his lips. His appendage grew and lengthened. He was thankful he was wearing pants.
He’d be embarrassed for her to see what she was doing to him. Being near her was making him want to do the things he’d watched the humans in those videos do. Things he’d swore he’d never do.
