“Anything?” I raised my gaze to his.

I picked up something else the desk clerk’s daughter had delivered. Chocolate.

I opened my eyes to find him and his shadows staring at me with a look of wonder in their eyes.
“This piece of candy made you moan like that?” Bliss asked, gently taking the candy from me to examine it.
Oops! I’d forgotten I had an audience. Bliss took a bite of the candy. Sabyn and the other shadows watched him.
Bliss shrugged. “It didn’t make me moan,” he said.
“Let me try it.” Charm took the candy from Bliss.
“Guys,” I started, reaching for the candy, but Charm already had it in his mouth. I watched him chew. He looked confused.
“I’m not moaning,” he said.
I held in my laughter. Had they never tried chocolate? Even before I was locked away and denied its taste, I still got excited about chocolate. I watched as they passed the candy amongst themselves, wishing it was me being passed around. By the time it made it to Sabyn, half of my bar was gone. Sabyn took a bite as he eyed me. He chewed slowly.
“So,” I said, reaching for the bar. “How is it?”
He handed me the candy back. “It’s not bad. I still prefer blood.”
I nodded. “I mean, you’re a Fallen after all. I didn’t expect you to like chocolate the way I do.” I took another bite and then rewrapped the chocolate to finish later.
“I never said I didn’t like chocolate,” Sabyn told me. “There’s a different type of chocolate I want to try.”
I swallowed, then asked, “What type?” Maybe they had it here.
“Yours,” he whispered.
I coughed, choking on air. Embarrassing. Dread patted me on my back, his hand hot against my skin. I leaned into his touch and was disappointed when he lowered his hand from me.
“What did you say?” I asked after clearing my throat.
“Can we taste your chocolate?”
Okay, he said what I’d thought he’d said. My cheeks flushed hot at the implication, but the allure of being so intimately connected with Sabyn and his shadows was too powerful to resist. That was why I didn’t hesitate to nod, on board with them tasting all of my chocolate.
“Alright,” I replied softly, my voice quivering with anticipation.
As I stood there, bared before this group of powerful males, I was both terrified and exhilarated. There was no turning back now. It felt good to not want to turn back, to not want to run. It felt good to want to be with them.
