How does this whole shadow thing work? I’ll let Hailee from book 2, Sabyn, explain it.
So far, I knew the Fallen were angels who’d started a war against humanity eons ago. Their punishment was to reside on Earth with the humans they hated. But they had their own realm, the Shadow Realm. As part of their punishment, they were cast out of their heavenly bodies and forced into flesh that resembled humans.
But their powers were too strong for their new bodies, so they formed shadows. Their shadows housed their emotions and some of their abilities. All Fallen had a Rage shadow, a Bliss shadow, a Charm shadow, and a Dread shadow. Their names matched the emotions. And those shadows didn’t follow behind the Fallen as they did for humans and regular beings.
Their shadows were an extension of them, with their own bodies and own personalities. They were basically a paler version of the Fallen they resided in. I’d seen Sabyn’s shadows a few times. Like him, they were muscular and attractive. And though their scents were a little different from his, they still smelled just as intoxicating as he did. And the way they stared at me made my knees weak.
