It’s Reed’s job to protect Mackenzie. Knowing she’s his mate makes things a lot harder. He yearns to touch her, claim her, mark her. However, one bite from him will awaken the beasts in both of them. Unfortunately, that’s against pack rules.
But rules are meant to be broken.

He doesn’t respond. He just stands there, his eyes wandering over my face like he’s drinking in my image. I want to touch him, but I’m scared to. What if I’m reading his signals wrong? Touching him could either make him touch me in return or it could cause me to look like a fool. I really don’t want to look like a fool in front of Reed, not when he’s being all super sexy Reed instead of big brother Reed.
“Did you hear what I asked you?” I say.
“Yeah I heard you.”
“Are you going to answer me?”
“You don’t want to hear my answer.”
“Yes I do.”
He shakes his head. I keep pressuring him for a response. “If I don’t look sorry, Reed, how do I look?” Please say sexy, please.
“Delicious, Mac, you look delicious.”
