Author Interviews

Welcome Melody S – Author of an original poetry collection called ‘Soul Speech’

I would like to welcome Melody S. Author of Soul Speech to my blog.
(Every one clap for Melody.)

Her Poetry Collection was released March 26, 2013 and I’m so happy that she took time out of her busy schedule to do this interview.

Melody S. is also the Author of Love’s Wrong Turns. She is the mother of three wonderful boys and the wife of an Army Veteran. She discovered her love for writing at the age of twelve and has been writing ever since. Melody S. is a Brooklyn, NY native and her stories are usually set in the NY Metro area. Melody S. plans to pen children’s books and to release other Adult Fiction stories like her release, Love’s Wrong Turns, in the near future.

Now that we know Melody S. a little better let’s ask her a few questions.

Siren – Melody S., how old were you when you realized that writing was what you wanted to do with your life?

Melody S. – I was about 15 years old when I realized that I had a gift but I didn’t get serious about writing until I was 28 years old.

Siren – Who has inspired you the most along your journey as a writer?

Melody S. – My husband and my children. They not only inspire me, but they motivate me and push me to keep producing great stories.

Siren – How did you come up with the idea of your current book?

Melody S. – Soul Speech, came from the need to heal and to tell my truth…without interruption. I also hoped to be able to help someone else who have dealt with some of the things that I’ve dealt with.

Siren – How did you come up with the Title of your current book?

Melody S. – Well, being that Soul Speech was going to be all about my personal experiences and how I felt about them, in essence it is MY truth. The words written on each and every page came straight from my soul which doesn’t have the ability to lie or see things in any other way, but truthfully.

Siren – I love that answer! 🙂 What advice would you give to others who are interested in/or are currently working towards becoming a published Author?

Melody S. – Stay true to you and don’t be afraid to be different! Also, get to know this industry inside and out so that you are educated in what it takes to be successful.

Siren – I totally agree with that. What books/Authors have influenced your writing?

Melody S. – Anything ever written by Iyanla Vanzant for sure.

Siren – Do you ever experience writers block?

Melody S. – No, I haven’t had the pleasure of that yet.

Siren – Lucky you, I have and believe me it sucks! Do you write an outline before every book you write?

Melody S. – No. Most times I already have the story mapped out in my head so it’s just a matter of putting fingers to computer keys.

Siren – What is your favorite time of day and place to write?

Melody S. – I love to write in the morning because that is when my characters like to come out and perform. My favorite place to write is this desk in my home office that my husband purchased and he and the boys put together. It’s an awesome space!

Siren – Your book was released yesterday, where can readers go to find it?

Melody S. – On

And on my website

Siren – One last question before you go…since this is a Fashion and Romance Blog you know I have to ask you a Fashion related question. Who is your favorite Fashion Designer and why?

Melody S. – My favorite designer is Chanel hands down. The designs are always classic and sexy which I absolutely love! When I wear Chanel, I feel like I need to straighten out my back and walk with my shoulders pushed back.

Siren – I love it! Chanel is also one of my favorites. 🙂

Thank you so much Melody S. for joining me on my blog today. Readers don’t forget to use the above links to purchase Melody’s book Soul Speech, an inspiring collection of poetry from the soul. Thanks Melody and Congrats on your new release!

xoxo Siren
