Feisty Females in Romance Part 3: Lark from Her Alien Protector

FeistyFemalesbanner

Happy Sexy Saturday!

Welcome to part three of the Feisty Females Spotlight. Today I’m applauding my character, Lark Valdese, for being a feisty heroine. Lark is the leading lady in my Sci-Fi romance, Her Alien Protector. She’s definitely a force to be reckoned with. Though she has a vulnerable side, she doesn’t like letting it show. She’s been there, done that and has the scars to prove it.

She’s determined to prove she’s just as tough as the boys. Truth is, she’s tougher than some of them, which is one of the reasons why some of them hate her. Having dealt with males like that all of her life makes it hard for her to accept her mate, Raynor Batiste. Oh, and there are a couple of other secrets that make her mating to Raynor a bit challenging.

excerpt1

Silhouette Of A Strong Fighter

He flinched as if she’d struck him.

She felt Ana’s hand on her shoulder. “Lark, be careful.”

“Yes, Lark,” Raynor stepped closer to her. “Be careful. Your next words could get your ex lover killed.”

How dare he? “Is that a threat?”

“No, sweet Lark. That’s a fact.”

“Well let me give you some facts. I was warming to the idea of you and I. I wasn’t totally on board with it, but I was closer than when I first laid eyes on you. But now I see you’re just like all the other males I’ve met. How dare you threaten a female, someone weaker than you? After all we’ve been through this day, you should want to protect her. You know what my enemies are capable of. You’ve seen how they’re willing to treat us females. Yet, you treat her no differently.”

“There’s a difference.”

“No, there isn’t.” Lark stared over her shoulder at Ana. “Ana, grab the duffle bag. We’re leaving.”

“If you think I am going to let you leave with her, you’re out of your mind.”

Lark raised her gun, trained it on Raynor. “If you think I need your permission, you’re out of your mind.”

Before he could reach for her, she pulled the trigger, sending a bullet through his chest. It wasn’t wooden so it wouldn’t kill him, but it would slow him down. Unfortunately all it did was cause him to stagger back.

“Don’t do this mate.”

“You’re giving me no choice.” Lark’s voice shook with unshed tears. He took a step forward, hand clutching his wound. “Please stop, Raynor.” Tears spilled down her cheeks.

“You’re choosing another over me.”

“I’m trying to help everyone. You’re the one making me choose.”

“I won’t let you leave with her.” He staggered in their direction. “She will die for the rift she’s creating between us.”

Lark shook her head. “Raynor, please.”

“Aim for the head,” Ana shouted as Raynor rushed in their direction.

He was getting closer. Lark didn’t want to kill him. Yet, the look in his eyes screamed him or Ana. One of them had to go. Lark pulled the trigger. Raynor dropped to his knees. Blood pooled from his head wound then dripped down his face. She closed her eyes when he slumped to the floor. What had she just done?

“We need to leave,” Ana yelled.

Lark opened her eyes to find Ana running toward the duffle bag. Her friend lifted the heavy bag and slung it over her shoulder like it weighed nothing. Lark stared down at Raynor. His eyes were closed, chest no longer rising and falling.

“He can’t die from this, can he?”

“I don’t think so.” Ana grabbed her hand. “But he will be one pissed off vampire when he awakens. We need to go.”

Ana tugged on her arm, pulling her from the room. Lark kept her eyes on Raynor. What the hell had she done? She’d shot her mate in the head. There could be no future for them now. Who was she kidding?

There had never been a future for them.

synopsis

Falling in love with a prisoner was against the rules.

So why was Lark allowing herself to get close to Raynor? He was domineering, cocky and much too handsome for his own good. Though her mind found him unbearable, her body was ready to endure anything he could deliver. However, she wouldn’t allow herself to fall for him, to trust him. Inside of him lived a darkness unlike anything she’d ever witnessed. If the rumors were true, that darkness would consume any and everyone in its path. Lark was going to try her best to stay out of his way.

They called him The Destroyer.

Raynor Batiste was many things: a monster, a killer, one of the most feared creatures in the galaxy. He was a beast whose name sent shudders through his enemies. However, a prisoner he was not. The only reason he’d allowed himself to be captured was so he could claim his mate, Lark Valdese.

That task was proving harder than he’d anticipated. Lark is afraid of what lives inside of him, and she should be. Yet, when her planet comes under attack, the evil lurking inside of him may be the only thing that can save her and her people. He’s willing to protect her planet, but his aid comes at a price, a price only Lark can pay.

Will Beauty give in to the Beast in order to save her world? Or is he a greater threat than her enemies?

synopsis

Power…it’s a heady drug.

Vanessa Warren is America’s favorite rebel. Daughter and granddaughter of US Presidents and sister to a future one, her family connections and notoriety are seen as leverage for manipulating the White House—if she’s captured.

One little lie leads to a whole lot of trouble.

Reclusive international resort developer, Dominic Varga, needs a date to ward off his matchmaking parents. When he persuades the notorious Vanessa Warren to play his girlfriend for the night, he has no idea he’s stepped into the crosshairs of kidnappers who will do anything—destroy everything—to get to her.

One true thing…

Trapped in a rapidly escalating international terror plot, Dominic and Vanessa’s lie becomes the only real thing in the midst of betrayals, conspiracies, and murder. As their world falls apart, they suddenly only have each other to rely on against ruthless people who will stop at nothing to achieve their goal. Who can they trust? Who is behind the plot—her own family, a political rival of her family’s, or a terrorist organization? How far will the kidnappers go—what will they be willing to sacrifice—to control the power of the White House? Is there anywhere in the world where they can find safety?

Excerpt-

Chin resting on folded arms against the balcony’s railing, she stared down at the streets below, erratic energy zapping from her bent body encased in violet while the breeze tossed her long tresses against bare shoulders.
She was too beautiful, too known, too wild, too…much. He knew that she was the kind of woman who could devour him, who would know his soul, who would wield her power over him with advanced skill. Yet he couldn’t leave. Maybe that’s why he had come, armed with chili-cheese fries, to dare destiny.
“My great-grandmother was a painter,” she said after he’d joined her. “Being an artist is all I’ve ever wanted to do.”
“And you did it. You had a successful showing and—”
“Someone destroyed them all.”
“Yes, they did.” He couldn’t imagine having one of his resorts go up in flames. Maybe it wasn’t the same exactly, but he poured so much of himself into each design, into every part of the decision making process, that it would feel like…a death. He didn’t know what to do or what to say to ease her pain.
She blew out a long breath before standing straight and looking at him through the shadows. “It’s at least one in the morning by now. Time for bed. Are you joining me?”
He inhaled sharply at the idea of resuming where they’d left off.
“Don’t you want to…talk or something?” he asked.
“About my feelings?” Her lips twisted. “It sucks. It hurts like hell. It pisses me off. There. I talked about my feelings. We good now?”
He’d never met anyone like her. Vanessa Warren was definitely one-of-a kind. She sauntered to him, almost like a predator about to go in for the kill, stood on her tiptoes until her breath caressed his chin, and whispered, “Make me believe in something good, something better than a lie.”
He grabbed her ass and lifted her up until they were eye-to-eye. Hair licked with fire slipped across his face when she leaned over him, all color and warmth. He wanted this, wanted her. This is why he had come, to feel this again, this agony of desire that he had suppressed for years.
Fingers twisted in the strands of hair that slipped against his face. He crushed her to him, ravaging her mouth like a dying man grasping at life. Tongues teased. Teeth nipped. And he fell past a point he had never thought to cross, not that he cared, not that it mattered. In his mind, he could see the lights of the city, blurring with speed and spinning beneath them.
God, she felt good. Intoxicating. Her lips nibbled across his neck.
“I shouldn’t want you so much, but I do. I can’t stop myself,” she whispered.
“Why do you want me?” He held her firm with his fists wrapped in her hair. “Tell me.”
“You wanted me when you didn’t know who I was. We were just two people, strangers, without a past or a future. I knew you wanted to fuck me against that mural, beneath that tarp, I saw it in your eyes, thought about it all damn day. Then tonight there you were. You walked up those stairs like a predator, seeking me out, sweeping me away.”
“You want to be swept away?”
“Desperately.”
“I’ll do my best.” He scooped her off her feet and carried her from the balcony to the bedroom. He fell onto his back against the mattress with her silk-encased body draped across him.
“Damn dress.” She propped herself above him and grimaced. “Help me out of it?”
“With pleasure,” he whispered against her neck.
His fingers moved to the discreet zipper at her side and — with his gaze never leaving hers — he slid it down. She shrugged it off her left shoulder. As if unwrapping a Christmas gift, he wasted no time in sliding the rest from her lean, toned body. Velvet hissed down her torso and slipped from her legs. Clad only in strapless bra and panties with her hair falling in wild layers past her shoulders, she kicked the tangled material off her feet and flashed him a devilish smile.
“You’re deadly.” But what a way to die.
Off came the bra. She grinned like the seductress she was and tossed it aside. “I’ll be gentle.”
“Don’t lie to me anymore.” His hands covered her breasts, claiming them. “Game’s over.”
“Wrong, Nic. It’s just getting started.” She pushed his shirt from his shoulders and kissed his neck.

Interview-sign-1024x731

Q: What motivated this suspense plot about the pursuit of power?

A: I have a love/hate relationship with politics. Not only am I an activist on the local level, but I find the political spectacle fascinating. How low will someone go to win office? What will it take for someone to betray a confidante? Is the ideal of the ‘greater good’ still relevant in today’s cynical world and, if so, what exactly does that mean? Are there still genuine good guys in office—I believe there are—and what is their struggle to remain that way?

Q: That’s a lot of questions. Do you deal with them all in One True Thing?

A. In a subtle way, yes. One True Thing is essentially about Vanessa Warren’s struggle to have her own identity despite a very public upbringing and a larger than life lineage. When she is suddenly thrust into the role of a pawn to be used to manipulate her famous family, she is forced to embrace the power that comes with her last name whether she wants to or not. As the story develops, the concept of the greater good comes into play—and it’s one she openly mocks in the beginning of the book—and she eventually realizes exactly what that means. That’s all I can say without giving spoilers.

Q: But this is a love story?

A: Yes, it is definitely a love story about a man who had closed himself off to feeling much of anything about anyone. He’s devoted himself to building an empire. Tragedy made him skittish about opening his heart, which is how he winds up with the most notorious woman in the world as a date to a party to deter his matchmaking parents. Their little lie has more truth to it than they initially believe and, as the story unfolds, becomes the only true thing they can trust. He sees Vanessa as a woman without an intimidating lineage and she sees him for the kind person he once was before tragedy made him a cynic.

Q: You’re known for creating a vibrant cast of characters in all of your stories, but in this one—although there are obviously secondary players—the focus is keenly on the main characters, why did you construct it a bit differently?

A: In this story, Vanessa’s world is shrinking as she’s being hunted. Everything she has taken for granted—even friendships—is being stripped away. Layer by layer, she starts doubting the people around her, begins questioning the world she’s lived in her whole life, and realizes how isolated she has become. The only person she can trust is a stranger she met named Dominic because he has no history with her, no motivation to sell her out. Hence the architecture of this book starts out broad and works into a sharp peak with Vanessa and Dominic at its center.

Q: What is the one true thing?

A: Family. Love. Strip away the power, the money, the fame, the illusion, and there is only one true thing that matters—love.

FiveStars

What a great read! Vanessa is definitely a feisty female. Yet, underneath her tough exterior lives a woman who just wants to be left alone. Like all of us, she has dreams and goals. But, unlike most of us, she’s not free to pursue those dreams. Why? Because her family is involved in politics. And though she wants nothing to do with that life, she keeps being dragged back into the thick of things. And then she meets Dominic, the very sexy Dominic. These two are made for each other. He has secrets he’s trying to outrun and she has a killer she’s trying to stay two steps ahead of. If you enjoy a novel that is full of suspense with twist and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat, then this novel is for you. Throw in steamy sex scenes and you have a five star read. This book has definitely made me a fan of this author.

Girl Talk Saturday, Guest Posts, Spotlights, What I'm Reading!

Feisty Females Part 1: Yoko from ‘The Plot’ by Melinda De Ross #Review

FeistyFemalesbanner

Happy Sexy Saturday!

June is here and all month long I’ll be shining the spotlight on feisty heroines in romance. Today’s Feisty Female is Yoko Hirano from THE PLOT by Melinda De Ross. Melinda is going to share with us what traits make her character part of the Feisty Female Club.
**My review of the book is at the bottom of the post. 🙂 **

The Plot
~Feisty Heroines: Yoko Hirano~

When I was invited to talk about my most impressive book heroine, I immediately chose to talk about Yoko Hirano, the twenty-two-year-old female lead from my Suspense Romance, THE PLOT. Yoko is one of the strongest characters I have ever created, and I admit her story wasn’t easy to write. A strong woman by nature, she was forced to become even stronger when she was pushed into prostitution at age eighteen. Unfortunately, this horrifying experience with which many women are confronted in real life every day has made her hard, almost unfeeling.

Her only goal becomes to get revenge on the Chinese triad that has stolen her innocence and destroyed her life. And to achieve that, she is willing to go on selling her body even when she escapes the tentacles of the organization. She tries to freeze her mind and heart, and performs sexual acts with strangers like a robot. That is, until she meets Mark Chandler.

Since she was a virgin when she was forced to become a prostitute, Yoko’s opinions about men and sex are very unflattering. But she senses there is a strange chemistry between her and Mark, which she can’t explain. As a prostitute, she’d never allowed any man to kiss her on the mouth, so when Mark kisses her for the first time, she is torn between shame and love.

Feeling soiled and dirty because of her past, and afraid Mark would find out about it, she refuses to do anything about the attraction between them. But Mark is persistent, and even though Yoko’s all-consuming ambition drives her to one purpose, she finds herself dazzled by the charming antique dealer. It remains to be seen if he’ll manage to overcome all of her fears and accept love completely…

The Plot Teaser 8

~What readers say about Yoko and THE PLOT~

“I loved this story, Yoko is such a strong character. I can’t imagine going through everything she has been through and she still turns out to be a strong willed, independent, ambitious woman.”

“Mark brings out the innocent, fun loving side of Yoko. I enjoyed the storyline, the interactions between characters, just the overall book. I’ll definitely be reading more books by this author.”

“A very powerful read. Human trafficking is and will always be a sensitive, controversial issues and Melinda De Ross weaves a story that will both grab and empower you to understand and feel every page of this book”

“Best work ever, Melinda.”

“De Ross handles the disastrous effects of human trafficking in a believable, sensible fashion.”

“Melinda De Ross gives us another spine tingling story. This is more intense then all her other books!”

“This was a very intense read throughout , something completely different to what I have read before.”

FiveStars

~My Review~

I give THE PLOT five stars. I absolutely loved it. I don’t even know where to begin. I guess I’ll start with the feisty female. From the very beginning we see that Yoko is smart and ambitious. She only wants to better her life, not only for herself, but for her family.

Then the unthinkable happens and those dreams are stolen from her. I admire her courage and her ability to stay strong during those dark years. When she breaks free from those chains she’s determined to make those who hurt her pay.

Then she meets Mark and she has to make a decision: give up her plan for revenge and turn to love instead or turn her back on love and seek the vengeance she’s dreamed about for years. You have to read the book to find out what happens.

But I will tell you this, Mark is the perfect man for her. He’s kind, caring, sexy and he has a few secrets of his own. Purchase your copy of THE PLOT to find out if Yoko chooses to follow her heart or if she allows her need for revenge to lead her away from love. Trust me, you won’t be sorry and you’ll be surprised by the twists and turns the author takes you on. I highly recommend The Plot by Melinda De Ross.

#SexySaturday Meet Lark from the Beasts From Beyond

Happy Sexy Saturday. Today you get to meet Lark from, Her Alien Protector. I’m giving you a peek into her mind. Enjoy!

She knew her scent was in the air when his nose flared and he clenched his hands into fists. He was struggling with keeping himself in check. Serves him right. No one should have the heightened senses that he did.

It was unfair and should be illegal. The longer she stared at him the more uncomfortable he became. Lark smiled when he shifted in his seat. Though his gray attire was loose fitting, it couldn’t hide the bulge he was sporting.

Fascinated by it, she watched the imprint grow longer. She could clearly picture it, the way it looked yesterday: wet, long and hard as he’d stepped from the marble tub in the bathing chamber.

And just like yesterday, today she found herself wondering what he would feel like inside her. Would he be gentle with her, easing into her until her body was accustomed to his girth?

Or would he pounded into her, erasing her fears with each thrust, proving that pleasure without pain was no fun at all?

“Damn it, Lark.” Raynor slammed his head against the wall. “What are you thinking? Tell me now. Tell me your thoughts?”

Welcome to Sexy Saturday! Every weekend this month I’ll share a short sexy excerpt from my new sensual Sci-Fi romance, Her Alien Protector. The novel is scheduled to be released May 28th. If you love romances that are out of this world, then you will adore Raynor and Lark’s story.

“Move away from me,” she spoke slowly making sure her voice didn’t betray her.

This creature was wreaking havoc on her mind and body. It had been two solar flares since she last had sex. Venusians were known for their sexual prowess and going that long without having someone touch her flesh was making her crazy. So crazy that even a vampire could arouse her.

“Answer the question,” he whispered, staring down at her.

“Um, I.” There it was again. The darkness in his eyes was swirling. Fascinating. She shook her head to clear it. “What was the question?”

“Has anyone ever told you that you smell divine?”

Of course not. No one flirted with her. “No, no one has ever told me that.”

“Good,” his wicked grin kicked her desire up a notch. “I get to be your first.”

Her first, she wished. Wait, no she didn’t. Her embarrassment caused her to revert back to her first line of defense, sarcasm. “Has anyone ever told you that you’re an irritating pain in the ass?”

“And lived? No. I guess that makes you my first.”

Oh my. The images his words caused her mind to create were illegal on at least three planets. She needed to get the hell away from him.

#MarchMadness with Bailey and Max from Christmas Confusion

GirlTalkSaturday

It’s March Madness. And no, we’re not discussing basketball, we’re discussing the things that drive us to madness. You know, like toilet seats left raised, fast food joints running out of french fries, and chasing a rainbow only to find the pot of gold missing. Yeah, those things piss me off also.

Today, the characters from Christmas Confusion are sharing with us a few things that make them mad.

Sexy Woman in Martini glass. Vector Illustration.

Bailey: Here’s a few things that drives me bonkers.

1) Co-workers who feel like they run the place. You know, the kind that try to tell you what to do, but they’re at the same pay rate as you are. Until your badge says BOSS, don’t tell me when I should work.

Sorry, I’m rambling. Moving on to number 2.

2) A sister-in-law who makes my brother’s life miserable. I only have one brother and he’s my world. So, it’s hard for me to just ignore the issues he has with his wife. But I have to, because he doesn’t want me in his business. Sometimes being a little sister sucks. On to number three.

3) The fact that life isn’t fair and sometimes we lose the people we love. There’s not much to say about this one. People die. There’s nothing we can do about it. We have to keep living. Sometimes that’s hard to do when you lose a loved one. Yet, we manage. I guess we’re stronger than we think we are.

4) Dieting. That should’ve been number one. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. Bring on the bacon.

5) Last but not least, I hate how shy I get whenever my neighbor, Max, comes around. I can’t help it. All he has to do is look at me and I forget how to speak. I really need to get a grip because it’s not like he’d want me anyway… but a girl can dream. And I dream about him almost every night. Oh well, these are five things that drive me mad.

baileymadwonhisheart

Max: I try not to get mad. I think it’s a waste of energy. However, sometimes you can’t help but get upset over certain things. Here’s a few things that drive me crazy.

1) Baby brothers.
2.) Big brothers.
3.) Sexy neighbors who ignore me. I mean, am I invisible?
4.) Love. Now that I’ve found the woman for me, it’s hard trying to convince her that I’m the one for her.
5.) Politicians.

There you have it. What? was I supposed to elaborate. Nah, that’s another thing that drives me crazy, socializing.

Alrighty then. And there you have it. To get to know these characters better you can purchase Christmas Confusion on Amazon. The Ebook is FREE with Kindle Unlimited and the print version will be available on Amazon soon.

synopsis

~Bailey Cooper has fallen in love – sadly the man she’s in love with already has a man. Sounds complicated doesn’t it? ~

Bailey Cooper is very much attracted to her neighbor, Max Davis. Unfortunately for Bailey, Greg – Max’s lover, is slowly becoming one of Bailey’s best friends. Bailey’s emotions are torn. She adores Greg’s friendship while at the same time she craves Max’s touch.

What’s a girl to do when she ‘thinks’ the man she’s in love with is in love with someone else?

Max Davis and his baby brother Greg Davis are co-owners of the apartment building they live in. Max has fallen for his tenant, Bailey, but she avoids and ignores all of his advances. It doesn’t take long for him to become suspicious of the friendship blooming between Greg and Bailey. He believes Bailey has a crush on his brother, but Max wants his shy little neighbor all to himself. Now he has to think of ways to keep Bailey and Greg apart, which is ridiculous since Greg isn’t even in to women. Time to break that news to his neighbor and hope it causes her attention to swing his way.

Will a holiday weekend full of chaos, confusion and a little bit of charm finally get Bailey and Max on the right track? Or will a few innocent caresses lead to more Christmas confusion?

Excerpt-

“He’s a very thorough lover,” Bailey talked loudly, trying to drown out the moans coming from the TV screen. She had no idea the movie ended this way. It was supposed to be a romantic comedy. Sex wasn’t usually this… arousing in romantic comedies.

“That he is,” Max said, with his eyes on her and not the television screen.

His eyes on her, combined with the sounds coming from the television, was causing her to feel things she’d never felt before. Why was she imagining Max doing those things to her and why was he still staring at her? Was he hoping for the same things she were, a touch a caress… anything to get rid of the need that was taking hold of her.

Bailey licked her lips, she felt parched. “Um, can I have a bottle of water?”

“Water? Yeah, yeah, water. I got water.” Max jumped up quickly, causing the comforter to wrap around his legs nearly tripping him. Bailey reached for him, trying to keep him from falling. Her hand landed on his jogging pants, close to his… unmentionable part. She snatched her hand away quickly and he recoiled from her touch just as fast.

“Sorry… I didn’t want you to fall… I tried to catch you…” Bailey let her sentence trail away, as she watched him right himself and untangle his feet from within the covers.

“Thanks, it’s okay. I’m okay. Everything is okay. I’m gonna go get your water now.” Max exited the room quickly, as if hell hounds were nipping at his heels.

She should go, she could tell she was making him uncomfortable and she’d almost touched his junk. Her whole body throbbed with a need she didn’t understand, and those damn TV characters wouldn’t stop moaning.
Bailey turned to the television screen in time to see the hero handcuff his bride to the bed. What in the heck was she watching? Max returned with her water and a cold beer for himself. She wished he would’ve brought her a beer also. She didn’t drink beer, but she would have loved to down one right now.

Girl Talk Saturday is back and this month’s topic is,
‘Name Five Reasons You’re Thankful This Holiday Season’.

Today I have Bailey and Krista from Christmas Confusion sharing what they’re thankful for this season.

Multi-ethnic hippie friends in a minivan on a road trip

Bailey:
* My job. *
The hospital hired me right out of college and I am forever thankful for that.
* My apartment.*
It’s still being renovated so the rent is real cheap, but I love it. Plus my next door neighbor is sexy as hell, so that’s kind of a win-win for me. 🙂
* My new bestie.*
Greg. He’s adorable and he looks better in skinny jeans than I do. Oh, did I mention that he’s my sexy neighbor’s boyfriend. Yeah, bummer.
* My brother.*
We aren’t talking as much right now, because I hate his wife. But, blood is thicker than water and he’s the only family I have left.
* My best friend in the whole wide world, Krista.*
This chick is my ride or die chick. We’ve been through so much together and I’m thankful and proud to have her in my life. #FriendsForever

Krista:
* My dancing skills.*
I’m the best dancer this side of the Mississippi. #IGotSkills
* Gatorade.*
Yeah, I’m thankful for Gatorade. Because when you get a hangover, it’s always there for you. Unlike your friends. (Hint, Bailey and Greg.)
* Speaking of Greg, my drinking buddy.*
I am thankful for him. He knows just the right amount of vodka to pour into my cup, to help make all the problems go away, at least for an hour.
* Bailey.*
My play cousin, my best friend, my road dog, my ride or die chick, my sister. I am extremely thankful to have you in my life.
* Life.*
I don’t think any of us realize how blessed we are to wake up each morning. I used to be the same way. But ever since my dad died, I’ve learned to appreciate life more. I’m thankful for each breath that I breathe.

~Bailey Cooper has fallen in love – sadly the man she’s in love with already has a man. Sounds complicated doesn’t it? ~

Bailey Cooper is very much attracted to her neighbor Max Davis. Unfortunately for Bailey, Greg – Max’s lover is slowly becoming one of Bailey’s best friends. Bailey’s emotions are torn. She adores Greg’s friendship while at the same time she craves Max’s touch.

What is a girl to do when she ‘thinks’ the man she’s in love with is in love with someone else?

Max Davis and his baby brother Greg Davis are co-owners of the apartment building they live in. Max has fallen for his tenant, Bailey, but she avoids and ignores all of his advances. It doesn’t take long for him to become suspicious of the friendship blooming between Greg and Bailey. He believes Bailey has a crush on his brother but Max wants his shy little neighbor all to himself. Now he has to think of ways to keep Bailey and Greg apart, which is ridiculous because Greg isn’t even in to women. Time to break that news to his neighbor and hope it causes her attention to swing his way.

Will a holiday weekend full of chaos, confusion and a little bit of charm finally get Bailey and Max on the right track? Or will a few innocent caresses lead to more Christmas confusion?

Excerpt (Truth or dare)

Greg explained the rules to the truth or dare newbies.
“First of all,” Greg said in his serious voice.

He looked so ridiculously serious that Krista and Bailey burst out laughing. The three of them were already slightly tipsy from the shot they took earlier.

“If you girls are not gonna take this seriously, then I’m not gonna play with you,” Greg pouted.

“Okay, we’re ready,” Krista said, and all Bailey did was giggle. She wasn’t a heavy drinker and that one shot had her buzzed.

“Okay,” Greg continued. “The rules are simple. You can either choose truth or dare, but you can’t choose one or the other three times in a row. For instance, Bailey…”

“Hey,” Bailey said. “Why are you picking on me? What have I done now?”

“Nothing yet. But I got a feeling you are going to try to choose truth every time it’s your turn.”

“I got that same feeling,” Krista said before blowing a strand of her black curly hair out of her face.

“I’m not going to choose truth every time,” Bailey told them, even though that had been her initial plan.

Both Krista and Greg looked at her like they didn’t believe her.

“I’m going to keep my eyes on you Bailey.” Greg said. “My spidey senses are tingling and when they do that during truth or dare it means someone is going to cheat.”

“He said tingling,” Krista giggled.

“Whatever.” Bailey rolled her eyes. “Okay, so we can’t choose one or the other more than two times.”

“That’s right, Bailey. Now, if you choose truth, and refuse to answer the question, you have to take a shot.”

Bailey groaned. Were all of these rules created for her?

“And,” Greg continued, “If you do tell a truth but we feel it’s a lie, you have to take a shot.”

“Did you guys make up these rules with me in mind?” Bailey asked.

“I didn’t,” Krista responded. “These are Greg’s rules and I like them. Okay, so who goes first?”

“I’ll go first,” Greg volunteered. Bailey was glad he was going first. She was sure they were going to make her go first.

“So, truth or dare?” Krista asked Greg.

“Truth,” Greg responded.

Krista turned to her. “Do you want to ask him a question or should I?” Bailey had no idea why she was nervous, it was just a game.

“You ask,” she told Krista.

Krista stared at Greg seated across the table from them “So Greg, how long have you been into men?”

Bailey gasped, “Krista!”

“What?” Krista exclaimed as if nothing was wrong. Bailey knew she was blushing enough for the two of them.

“Calm down, Bailey,” Greg said. “That is the perfect way to start off truth or dare. Now the answer is… drum roll, please.”

Krista began beating her hands against the table.

EXCERPT
“You’re in love with her, aren’t you?” Greg said in awe.
Max snorted at the incredulity of Greg’s question.
“I just met her. I’ve only known her for three weeks. How can I possibly be in love with her?”
Greg sat up on the couch, same shocked expression on his face.
“Stop looking at me like that,” Max told his brother. “There is no way I’m in love with my neighbor.”
“I can’t believe I’ve been so blind,” Greg sighed. “I’m supposed to be the Christmas Cupid, how did I miss this? My pupils have fallen in love and I didn’t even realize it. I’m slipping.”
“What are you talking about?”
He was not in love with Bailey. There were a lot of things he loved about her but he wasn’t in love with her. He loved the way she walked, the sound of her voice, hell he even loved watching her walk away from him, because the view was to die for.
He loved that she didn’t balk at the kind of car he drove. He loved the way she smiled shyly whenever he told her good morning. But that didn’t mean that he loved her, he didn’t know her well enough to love her. But he could see himself falling in love with her, if she would give him a chance. If he could just figure out what she wanted, he would give it to her.
“It all makes so much sense now,” Greg whispered.
“Really dude, what are you mumbling about?”
“The waitress at the Pancake Shack, she was cute, but you didn’t pay her any attention. Last week there was the gas station cashier, who asked you what your name was. She was hitting on you and you didn’t even notice. The only woman you seem to have eyes for is your brown-haired neighbor.” Greg tapped his finger against his chin. “I think I’ve just figured out what’s wrong with you.”
“There’s nothing wrong with me, doofus.”
“See, that right there. You called me doofus, you haven’t called me that in years.”
“Because you haven’t acted like one in years.”
“I’ve never acted like one, but you only called me that after I’d gone through your stuff and found out something that you didn’t want me to know.”
Max stopped pacing. “I’m completely lost. I have no idea what we’re even talking about now.”
“Let me bring you up to speed, dear brother. You calling me doofus means you know that I am on to you, and I am. I know what’s wrong with you. I know why you’re so cranky.”
“Please, feel free to enlighten me.”
“I shall, but first, name one other woman that you’ve been this crazy about,” Greg said.
He started pacing again, searching his mind for a name. The names of every woman he’d ever dated and or slept with raced through his head.
“There was Bethany…”
“She doesn’t count,” Greg chimed in. “She cheated. You dumped her and never looked back. If you were crazy about her, you would have been heartbroken, but you weren’t. So name someone else.”
He tried to come up with another name, but no other woman came to mind, only Bailey. There was no point in denying it any longer.
“There isn’t anyone else, only Bailey.”
Greg began grinning from ear to ear.
“You love Bailey. I can see it in your eyes. Case solved.”
Max returned to his recliner and plopped down, defeated. He loved Bailey, everything about her. There was no denying it or fighting it, He was in love with Bailey Cooper.

Talking Fear with the trio from, One Night With A Succubus #SciFi

ONWASUCCUBUS

Happy Halloween!!

It’s raining in my neck of the woods. 😦 But that’s okay. Online, it’s always sunny.

I’m excited on this rainy day because I get to chat with the trio from, One Night With A Succubus. Today, all three characters will share with us what their worst fear is.

2.mysterious

Natina:
I have a few fears. One is I’m afraid that I’m going to prove to my superiors that I’m just as clumsy as they think I am. Which I did prove to them when I crash landed my craft into a sexually barren planet, earth. Luckily, I stumbled upon two earthlings who made my stay on earth enjoyable.

Because of them, my second worst fear didn’t happen. I did not starve to death. Us Succubi need to feed at least twice a day. And when I say feed, I mean have sex…. hours and hours of rough sex. Dexter and Jason gave me the energy I needed to complete my mission.

They also opened up to each other about things they’d both been afraid to admit. I guess one night with me helped them conquer some of their fears.

onwasmen

Dexter:
I’ve tackled my worst fear, thanks to a mysterious woman I encountered in the woods. For years I’ve been afraid to admit, even to myself, the feelings I have for my best friend. Well now he knows.

I just hope he doesn’t regret our one night together. For me, it was magical. I got to spend the night with a beautiful woman and the man I love. I have no regrets. My new fear is that he does. Our friendship could be ruined due to one spectacular night.

Jason:
I’m not ashamed or afraid of how I feel. However, I am afraid of rejection. I’ve worked along side Dexter for years. I’ve hid my feelings because I feared he would think less of me if I expressed them. Then one night, this sexy stranger comes into our lives and he’s willing to screw her even though he doesn’t know her.

Though I wanted her just as much as he did, I have to admit that I was jealous of her. At least I was until she lured me into their embrace. As one, we explored levels of passion that I’ve never experienced before. I don’t want to lose this feeling. I want them both. My fear is that they may not want anything permanent with me.

***One Night With A Succubus is not for the faint of heart. It involves a delicious MMF menage and very naught language. This sci-fi read is for mature adults only.***

She needs sex to survive.

Lost and starving, Natina Duvo has to find food and fast. Bread and water won’t do. Only hours of rough sex will keep her alive and give her the strength she needs to complete her mission. Hopefully the men of earth will have enough stamina to survive one night with her. She will soon find out.
It’s time for Natina to hunt.

Talking fear with the main characters of Tease Me, Taste Me #Halloween

girltalksaturday1

It’s Saturday. Time for a little Girl Talk. Today we’re talking fears with the main characters from my sci-fi novella, Tease Me Taste Me. Tiffanie and Orik will share with us what their worst fear is.

tmtmwhoneedsamanbanner

Tiffanie:
My worst fear is living the rest of my life without taking chances, risks. Sounds crazy doesn’t it? For so long I’ve lived in the shadow of others, letting them make decisions for me. I’m ready to make my own decisions. I’m ready to live my life the way I want to. No more worrying about what men like. No more dieting to stay in shape so a man will notice me. I’m ready to eat cake, drink beer and try out these new machines my friend has created. 🙂

tmteasemetasteme

Orik:
My worst fear is having the woman I love find out who and what I really am. If she finds out the reason my people truly came to this planet, she will fear me. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep this knowledge from going public… whatever it takes.

synopsis

Tease Me, Taste Me: BK 1 of the Mechanical Men Series.

Why spend your nights with a man, when you can spend them with a machine? Machines go harder, last longer, and don’t ask silly questions afterward like, did you come?’
-Hudson Innovations – Making your life better, one machine at a time.

Tiffanie Connerly is tired of men. They lie, they cheat and they break your heart. It’s time for Tiffanie to climb off her good girl pedestal and climb on top of a cyborg. She’s ready to give machines a try.

Machines don’t lie. They tell you what you want to hear.
Machines don’t cheat. Once you purchase them, they’re yours forever.
Machines don’t break your heart. They break your headboard…

Who needs a headboard any way?

Excerpt-

“You want us to be the first ones to try out the cyborgs?” Gemini asked.

“Yes, Gem. I want you four ladies to be my testers.”

Well hot damn. It was official. She was finally going to fuck a cyborg. Tiffanie felt herself blushing and even though she was slightly embarrassed by her thoughts, she still couldn’t wipe the grin off her face. The only one not smiling was Jessica.

“Mother, this is outrageous,” Jess flipped her hair over her shoulder and shot her mother a disgruntled glare. “I’m not about to have sex with a machine just so you can see if it works properly. Don’t you have a team of imbeciles who do that type of stuff for you?”

“Jessica, you and I will chat later. But don’t ruin your bridesmaids’ fun.”

“Yeah Jess,” Kylee pouted. “Don’t ruin our fun.”

“Consider this a gift from me to them,” Ms. Hudson said. “This is a thank you to your friends for the loyalty they’ve shown you since the day they met yet you. Real friends are hard to come by, and you’ve managed to find three. Will you allow me to show them my gratitude?”

They all turned to stare at Jessica who shifted from one foot to the other as she thought over her mother’s request.

“Oh, alright,” she finally said. “But I’m not having sex with one of those robodicks.”

Ms. Hudson laughed. “That’s what you say now. You may change your mind after you see what these robodicks can do.”
